Appearance can be easily customised to suit any site
The calendar forms a constantly changing feature on your site, encouraging
return traffic
The same calendar can be syndicated to many sites, each with a different
appearance.*
Links are generated to the other sites in the syndicate, forming a virtual
webring, increasing traffic to all the sites. Only the initial host
site needs cgi/perl access. *
Possibility of remote hosting for those without cgi/perl access. Alternatively
you could offer this service.*
Out of Date events are automatically excluded from the display and deleted,
keeping your site's content fresh.
Today's events are highlighted with Today
badge (try an entry in our demo with todays date, but remember our server
may be in a different time zone from you! So use the date given on display
page)
The time of the event is entered and appears colloquially eg you could say
7:30pm, doors open 6:45 or Matinee 2:30 Evening
7:30
Entries are placed online and appear immediately (try it now!)
You can choose to allow anyone to place entries online, or only those with
approved passwords
Entries can be deleted by password or by admin
Admin can set priority for any entry to make it the first entry to appear
on a particular day. Otherwise entries for the same day appear in order in
which they were placed.*
You can allow small ads or pictures, with links, to be included among the
entries, their position will be rotated. The frequency of their appearance
can be set by you.*
You can choose to show banners on the calendar page, banners are rotated.
*
Entries can be restricted to a certain number of weeks ahead, set by you.
Admin can override this restriction.
You can link the Calendar to your homepage in a number of ways. You can
use an inline frame as above, a
simple text link or an image link (click on AbleEvents banner above). Alternatively you can use a Javascript include, linking to another
cgi script, allowing the calender to sit happily and seamlessly on your homepage.*

Below is a live Javascript include of our local sailing club's
What's On feature.
What's
On @ The Sailing Club
Click
here to place or delete an entry
(In addition to the events shown there is a clubnight every Tuesday)
To include this, or perhaps more usefully, a similar item in any website just
paste the following code anywhere in your body html
The critical part is just the bit that goes
The rest is just formatting and an add an entry link. Try placing the link on
a test page. You won't need to upload the page to your website, just view your
local page in your browser when online.
If you have an interesting What's on featue you can offer it accross to
other relevant sites.
You can also include the link in an html email, so that the recipient has
a live calendar on hand. It will refresh when connected to the internet!
The style of a Javascript include follows the rest of the webpage, so that
it does not look out of place on anysite.
You can adjust the number of entries to show on the page, there will be
an automatic link to further entries, opening a new page.
JS includes do not work on this site because it is a free host that includes
banner ads in everything! This confuses the browser.
